Steve Govey - Partner

Qualified as both an engineer and chartered accountant, Steve Govey leads the Beavis Morgan R&D Tax Relief team. He also heads our partnership with the Accelerator Academy, mentoring ambitious digital entrepreneurs looking to grow their business.

Steve’s clients range from start-ups to smaller listed companies, with the aim at each stage of enhancing value by understanding and driving ambitions for growth and development.

With a keen understanding of the complex issues facing entrepreneurial business owners, Steve is focussed on helping them realise their ambitions and secure money back to further incentivise innovation.

Rebecca Heap - R&D Tax Director

Rebecca Heap - R&D Tax Director

Rebecca comes from an academic background with degrees in Pre-Clinical Medicine and Medical Physiology. After pursuing ambitions as an athlete in the GB Rowing Team, Rebecca spent several years applying her scientific and research knowledge to the business environment at a large R&D consultancy.

Rebecca has supported businesses from startups to FTSE 100 companies and gained exposure and extensive knowledge across all industry sectors.

As a business consultant with specialist knowledge on R&D and the incentives available, Rebecca works with UK business leaders on their innovation strategies to help them achieve their strategic growth ambitions and investment plans.

Simon McCarthy – R&D Tax Director

Simon McCarthy – R&D Tax Director

Qualified with a Master’s Degree in Information Systems, Simon McCarthy is a R&D Tax Director within the Beavis Morgan R&D Tax Relief team.

Simon’s current portfolio predominantly comes from the wider IT ecosystem, within the UK, with a focus on limited companies concentrating on innovating within the fields of Fintech, blockchain, machine/deep learning, big data and IoT-based solutions.

Having previously headed up the R&D Tax Advisory department in a multi award-winning digital accountancy firm, Simon has the expertise to assist clients, no matter their size and overarching company structure.

Chris Smith - R&D Tax Manager

Chris Smith - R&D Tax Manager

A Masters in Material Science & Engineering and having held various technical R&D roles within the engineering sector, Chris has both hands-on R&D knowledge as well as specialising in R&D tax relief for the past 5 years.

Leveraging his engineering background, Chris delivers comprehensive RDEC (research and development expenditure credit) and SME scheme tax relief claims for a diverse array of clients.

Chris brings with him a wealth of technical knowledge within the fields of materials science, engineering, manufacturing, construction, software and more. Using this extensive experience, he is focussed on delivering robust and compliant claims, all the while ensuring that clients receive maximum potential value.

Sabrina Pegado – R&D Tax Manager

Sabrina Pegado – R&D Tax Manager

Sabrina holds a masters in biochemical engineering and has held various roles within the commercial sector, before finding her standing within fiscal incentives consulting. Her repertoire of experience spans both R&D and capital allowances advisory.

However, since 2017, she has leveraged her engineering background, into delivering comprehensive RDEC and SME scheme claims for a diverse array of clients.

To date, Sabrina has amassed a wealth of technical knowledge within sectors including, but not limited to manufacturing, construction, and software, mechanical and electrical services as well as sports science and more.

She is keen to deliver robust and compliant claims, whilst still ensuring clients receive maximum potential value.

Specialising in Construction, Manufacturing and Engineering sectors, Sacha holds a Mechanical and Medical Engineering, BEng (Hons), qualification with a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.

She brings with her a wealth of experience working on a variety of RDEC and SME Tax Reliefs claims, whilst advising on how to optimise the potential tax incentive that adheres to the scheme’s criterion.

Nicholas Cook - R&D Tax Manager

Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technology and Multimedia. Since beginning his work on RDEC and SME claims in 2018, he has gained a wealth of experience across a variety of industries, including software, architecture, industrial design, consumer products, and food science, having completed a vast amount of successful claims. Adding to this , Nicholas' experience includes working with fintech accounting tools and assisting clients in ensuring that their bookkeeping, accounting, and tax information is well organised in order to help them with their R&D claims in the future.
